Pain Connections Meeting December 5, 2013

The December 5 meeting of Pain Connections will be held at Napolatano’s Italian Restaurant (606 NW 75th Street/Tower Road, Gainesville).

At the December meeting the speaker will be Dr. Irene Estores who is the Medical Director of the UFHealth Integrative Medicine Program. Dr. Estores is a fellowship-trained Integrative Medicine physician, a physiatrist and medical acupuncturist. She will speak on Integrative Care Models for Chronic Pain. The effects of complementary therapies such as acupuncture, manipulation, mind-body therapies, botanicals and supplements on pain have been studied individually, and some benefit has been demonstrated from the use of these modalities for specific medical conditions. Different integrative care models, defined as coordinated access to conventional and complementary care, have been developed and likewise studied. Dr. Estores will review the current literature on the effectiveness and cost utility of these integrative care models and highlight its implications on current pain research and practice.

From 6:30–7:00 p.m. will be time to socialize with friends and colleagues; from 7:00–8:30 p.m., we will enjoy dinner and begin our discussion. Please send an RSVP to Linda Tanner and mark your calendar for Thursday, December 5, 2013.
