Study Name: Pain Experiences & Resilience in Latinx Adults (PERLA)
Purpose of the study
We are conducting a study about pain in Hispanics/Latino adults. The purpose of the study is to gain a better understanding of the factors such as culture, coping skills, and biological marker that may affect musculoskeletal pain.
Who is eligible?
To be in the study you must be 60 years of age, identify as Hispanic/Latino and experience Musculoskeletal (MSK) pain, which is pain that may affect the muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons and nerve. MSK pain may also affect any part of the body (neck, back, hips, knee or feet).
What will happen if I participate?
If you decide to participate, you will attend 1 session to a research clinic at the University of Florida. The visit will last approximately 3 hours. During the visit you will complete questionnaires about your pain, mood and stress. You will undergo sensory exams to test your perception of pain. You will also provide a saliva sample and perform physical tests that involve walking a short distance, sitting and standing.
