Meet Dr. Borsa, Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Physiology & Kinesiology and Director of the Sports Medicine Research Laboratory in the College of Health and Human Performance. Dr. Borsa has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1988 and has treated many athletes with acute and chronic pain. He started his academic career studying the effects of shoulder and knee injury on body position awareness (proprioception). Dr. Borsa’s work focuses on understanding the influences on musculoskeletal pain to identify how specific genetic and psychological risk factors influence shoulder pain and physical impairment following injury. Recently, he’s studying the efficacy of CBD extract for decreasing symptoms response and speed recovery in induced muscle injury. Dr. Borsa’s remains very active in his spare time, exploring trails on his mountain bike and engaging in DIY home improvement projects.
