Dr. Aaron Mickle Receives R21 Grant

Congratulations to Dr. Aaron Mickle for receiving an R21 grant from the National Institute of Health. Dr. Mickle’s grant will use an animal model of spinal cord injury to restore bladder function using optogenetics, a method for controlling a neuron’s activity using light. The project’s long-term goal is to develop targeted closed-loop therapies to treat patients’ bladder disorders related to spinal cord injury.
