Congrats Steve Pratscher on his recent publication “Optimizing Chronic Pain Treatment with Enhanced Neuroplastic Responsiveness: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial” in Nutrients! Pilot studies test the feasibility and acceptability of study procedures before committing to a much larger, in-depth randomized controlled trial (RCT). This pilot, conducted under Dr. Kim Sibille, attempts to optimize the effectiveness of an existing chronic pain treatment by pairing it with strategies known to promote neuroplasticity. The findings reported by Dr. Pratscher support the use of relaxation and imagery combined with intermittent fasting and glucose administration as an intervention for individuals with knee pain or at risk for knee osteoarthritis in a larger follow-up RCT. https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/13/5/1556
