Breathe for Pain

Study Name: Breathe for Pain

Purpose of the study

The purpose of this research study is to see if a 5-day Breathing and Attention Training treatment, which includes instructions on deep breathing and focusing on different parts of your breathing, improves pain symptoms, stress, and emotional well-being in adults with chronic low back pain.

Who is eligible?

Adults between the age of 18 and 65 with chronic low back pain on most days.

What will happen if I participate?

Your participation involves 3 visits to our research clinic at the University of Florida where you will answer questions about your health and pain history and how you think and feel. You will also complete physical tasks of sitting, bending, standing, and walking as well as pain sensory tests to measure how you feel different sensations. You will learn the Breathing and Attention Training during your second visit and continue practicing on your own at home for 3 days.
