New Research on Fibromyalgia
Pain and hyperalgesia are characteristics of chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions, including fibromyalgia syndrome. In a recent investigation, Roland Staud, alongside Melyssa Godfrey and Patrick Stroman, sought to gain a better understanding of those characteristics in pertinence to abnormal pain augmentation and dysfunctional pain inhibition through QST trials and spinal fMRIs
The result of their trials, ‘Fibromyalgia is associated with hypersensitivity but not with abnormal pain modulation: evidence from QST trials and spinal fMRI’ has been published in Frontiers.
