Research Reveals Relationship Between Cannabis and Reduced Addictive Risks in Oxycodone
A recent study examined how cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive compound from cannabis, interacts with the opioid painkiller oxycodone in rats. Researchers aimed to determine if CBD could enhance the pain-relieving effects of oxycodone while reducing its addictive risks.
The study, which was conducted by researchers at the University of Florida, including Ariana Brice-Tutt, Robert Caudle, and John Neubert, revealed that CBD may enhance oxycodone’s pain-relief benefits without increasing its addictive properties. This suggests CBD could be a promising strategy for reducing opioid use in pain management.
