Study in Levels of Knee Pain Reveals Root Causes
Despite significant progress in pain research, the factors explaining individual differences in knee osteoarthritis have remained elusive. Dispositional traits have traditionally been investigated as a psychological factor although they are a predisposing, biologically-based factor that “interacts” with life experience. The investigative team show that a combination of dispositional traits and socioeconomic status, defined as poverty status, are more predictive of pain, function, and biological measures of individual health status than when considering dispositional traits or poverty status alone. The study, “Applying evidence-based cross-disciplinary concepts helps to explain the heterogeneity in pain, function, and biological measures in individuals with knee pain with/at risk of osteoarthritis” has been published in PAIN Reports. New Light Shed on Benefits of Time-Restricted Eating
A recent study looked at how time-restricted eating (TRE) impacts inflammation and oxidative stress in overweight older adults.
Researchers including Javier Tamargo and Stephen Anton found that participants experienced reduced inflammation levels during TRE, suggesting that there may be anti-inflammatory benefits for older adults, though larger, longer-term studies are needed to confirm those findings and better understand the potential health benefits of time-restricted eating.
