New Research Examines Chronic Pain and Marginalized Populations

A new publication explores epigenetics as a key mechanism in how chronic pain affects marginalized populations. Researchers, including Larissa Strath, explored how stress and neuroinflammation pathways are altered through epigenetic modifications as well as epigenetic age acceleration, which could explain how factors such as low income, food insecurity, and neighborhood disadvantage relate to worse pain outcomes.
The article, “Using an epigenomic approach to advance pain equity” has been published in Pain Reports and can be viewed here!
