Review of Reviews in Pain

Roger6646

Over the past 50+ years, research has shown big differences in how people experience pain and get pain treatment, depending on things like gender, race, and age. A new review looked at nearly 400 studies, finding that most focused on sex and gender, with fewer digging into income, where people live, or other social factors.

The authors, who included Roger Fillingim, highlighted the need for future research to consider lower-income countries, prevention strategies for chronic pain, and structural factors driving disparities.

The article, “Over 50 years of research on social disparities in pain and pain treatment: a scoping review of reviews” is available to view in PAIN Journal.
