A New Study Could Reveal Link Between Physical Therapist and Back Pain Treatment Success

Can the relationship you have with your physical therapist effect how well your back pain treatment works?
In a new study “Patient and physical therapist perspectives on spinal manipulative therapy for low back pain and associated clinical outcomes: protocol for a prospective, single-arm intervention study” researchers at UF including Jason Beneciuk and Joel Bialosky will explore how patient expectations, therapist beliefs and overall relationship between patient and provider influence results when using spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) for low back pain.
By tracking patients and therapists over 6 months, the team hopes to better understand what makes SMT most effective!
