About the Program
Team science has propelled advancements in solving some of the most complex research problems, often yielding solutions that would not emerge from isolated efforts. The University of Florida Partnerships Across Interdisciplinary Networks: Training through Engineering, Epidemiology & Addiction Medicine (UF PAIN TEAM) offers advanced training for postdoctoral fellows focused on the interdisciplinary study of pain. The program is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and emphasizes the importance of team science and translational research in pain management. UF PAIN TEAM includes a combination of required and elective coursework, hands-on research experiences, and training in manuscript and grant writing. Fellows involved also benefit from career development opportunities that are tailored to their specific research interests.
Our distinguished mentors bring a wide array of expertise to the program, including but not limited to:
- Interdisciplinary Approaches to Pain Research
- Translational Science and its Application in Pain Management
- Biopsychosocial Models of Pain
- Advanced Statistical Analysis and Research Design
- Patient-Centered Pain Management Strategies
- Collaborative Research Across Disciplines in Pain Science
The UF PAIN TEAM Program is committed to producing the next generation of pain researchers who are equipped to tackle complex challenges through innovative, interdisciplinary approaches.
Training Requirements
We seek candidates interested in clinical pain research across multiple disciplines both from traditional (e.g., neuroscience, psychology, physical therapy, nursing) and non-traditional (e.g., engineering, epidemiology, addiction medicine, bioinformatics) backgrounds in pain research.
- By the appointment, trainees must have received a doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, MD, DMD, DDS, DVM).
- Written certification by an authorized official of the degree-granting institution that all degree requirements have been met, prior to the date training is to begin, is acceptable.
- For the T90 positions, candidates must be a U.S. citizen, a non-citizen national, or a permanent resident (i.e. possess a Green Card or some other verification of legal admission as a permanent resident).
- For the R90 position, candidates must be non-citizen clinical scientists currently residing in the U.S. and who intend to pursue careers in clinical pain research at organizations located in the U.S.
- Candidates must also provide three professional references to be considered for the T90/R90 Program.
