SMS Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to the SMS text messaging program operated by the Pain Research and Intervention Center of Excellence (PRICE) at the University of Florida. By providing your mobile phone number and consenting during a PRICE study’s informed-consent process, you agree to these terms.

Program description

Program name: PRICE Study Appointment Reminders

Program purpose: Send scheduled appointment reminders to enrolled participants of PRICE research studies, and receive participant replies (e.g., confirmations or reschedule requests) for routing to the study team.

Program type: Account notifications / transactional messaging. This is not a marketing or promotional program.

How to opt in

You may opt in to receive SMS reminders by:

Providing your mobile phone number and giving written consent as part of your study’s IRB-approved informed-consent document.

Participation in SMS reminders is voluntary and is not required to participate in a PRICE research study.

Message frequency

You will typically receive up to 2 messages per scheduled study visit (a reminder and, where applicable, a confirmation follow-up). Some studies with multiple visits may result in additional messages over the course of your participation. Message frequency varies by study protocol.

Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Check your mobile plan with your carrier for details. PRICE and the University of Florida are not responsible for any charges imposed by your mobile carrier.

How to opt out

You may stop messages at any time by:

Replying STOP to any message you receive. You will receive a single confirmation text and will not receive further messages from this program.
Contacting the study team directly at price-ctsi@ufl.edu or (352) 273-7620 to request removal.

Opting out of SMS reminders does not affect your participation in the research study.

Supported carriers

This program is supported on major U.S. carriers including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket, and others. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy

Your mobile phone number and opt-in data are handled in accordance with our SMS Privacy Notice, which states that mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted to this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued participation after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
